Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare in advance for emergencies.
  • Locate and interpret organisational emergency response procedures.
  • Determine own emergency response responsibilities and identify reporting lines to other personnel.
  • Identify types and location of equipment used for different emergency incidents.
  • Identify exits and assembly points to be used in the case of evacuation.
       
Element: Respond to emergency incidents.
  • Identify emergency situations and promptly report to appropriate personnel according to organisational emergency response procedures.
  • Use communication systems and protocols during emergency situation according to location and type of incident.
  • Provide clear information and follow instructions from personnel during the emergency according to chain of command.
  • Select and use emergency equipment suited to the emergency circumstance.

  • Provide clear and concise emergency instructions to participants throughout the emergency response.
  • Implement strategies to maintain effective group control.
  • Remove participants from danger safely and promptly.

Assessment Tasks
